The Prophet, The Evangelist, and The Missionary

Nostradamus

Three Social Media Personalities.

The first SMM personality type is that of “The Prophet”. This person is our liaison to that, which is, yet to be. Making predictions on where trends will lead us, and what pitfalls may be upon us. They rarely offer solutions to their “Visions”. Their message is often obscured by vague references to future events, they predict to evolve out of Today’s trends. And once a Prophet is established, their influence serves to help create, the reality they have predicted. Not a bad gig.

Billy Graham

Next, we have “The Evangelist”. This is the Person that brings People into the SMM arena. Touting the benefits of, and heralding the damnation of not, having an SMM platform. SMM is an industry because of THEM. This personality type will win “converts” but may not have the time to build a platform for clients Personally. But You are now a “Believer” in the importance of having an SMM presence. They will now, plug You in to “Their System”. And that leads me to…..

Mother Teresa

“The Missionary”. This is the worker bee of the SMM hive. Meeting needs wherever they may arise. Always on call. Always something to do. And their work is never done. More often than not, they work behind the scenes. Never highly visible, but always having the most impact. They connect with all People, on all levels. The missionary is, in fact, the support system to “The Evangelist”. The missionary has a voice You will seldom hear, but You will stop to listen, when they do speak.

Each Personality Type, overlaps the other two on many occasions. But the dominant traits continue to stand out. Which One Are You?

  1. I sort of attempt to take on all the roles from time to time. The ‘Missionary’ position is the only one that keeps me on top of the bills though :) .
    Nice post Stephen.
